The Promise - An Easter Play

At 7 pm, on Friday March 22nd at St. Mary’s Church, Cleobury Mortimer, a small company representing the churches of the area will be presenting a play for Easter based on the Gospel of John. The Promise offers an opportunity to listen to the words of Jesus as the audience eats and drinks with the disciples.

This play already has been successfully presented at two other churches and I had wondered if St Mary’s would like to offer it to our community. It requires a monumental feat of memory from the actor portraying Jesus and after convincing Nigel Hodgson to take this on, we set about recruiting the disciples. So many people have been enthusiastic about this project. We have a team of ladies running up costumes, the Men’s Shed are producing scenery, and gems have been unearthed from charity shops for our props.

So please come and share a special evening as we move towards Easter. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be on the tables and hot drinks with hot cross buns will be available in the interval. Tickets are free and are available from The Hub, the Market Hall and St Mary’s. There will be opportunity for a voluntary donation on the night.
